I'm currently working on a smart Computer. AMD Phenom X4 940, 4GB RAM, Radeon HD 4770 from Sapphire, MSI K9A2 Neo, card reader, LG DVD-LW, 450W power supply from Sharkoon: SHA450-8P and Win XP32.
is known that Win32 can not address the full 4GB of memory. A few weeks ago I came across the general Rumstöbern an interesting idea: Leave the page file into RAM. Prima I thought then, and was now looking for an implementation manual. And I am both trolls, n00bs and total n3rds met. And everyone else has argued. Some say: Great idea with the outsourcing of removal. Others say: Outsourced is only when the RAM is full, so how is this work with the Back Store ... Others think: This is already, as is written to the swap file even if there is room in RAM yet (only Bill Gates knows how because the allocation is made ;-))
like best, I found the argument that Windows uses his almost 3GB and is the can use remaining as ramdisk . I have so summarily looking for a tool to such a ram disk set. The installation has gadauert a minute, then I had my ram disk as drive Z: \\ with 1GB memory.

So I push the Windows Temp directory also still the same with pure: have given me under Control Panel -> environment variables, the paths for the temp and tmp values each with Z> System -> Advanced -: set \\ Temp \\ Windows \\. A big advantage is that all the temporary or cache files for one will be deleted automatically shutting down.
Has anyone other ideas what could be outsourced or how to measure the speed advantage? Then clean it in the comments (-:
